We have two campgrounds you can choose from. Cedar Stump is in the Northeast corner of Lake Umbagog accessible by boat only. Northern Waters Base Camp is located in town right next to the Androscoggin River, with over fifteen campsites between the two. Northern Waters Basecamp
Northern Waters Base Camp is located right in downtown Errol, NH, and is a perfect location to return to after a long day of paddling. We are located next to the Androscoggin Rapids right between the dam and bridge. There are twelve primitive tent sites to choose from. Tubes are free to campers depending on availability. Small campers and RV's are welcome. Firewood available.
Cedar Stump Campground
Cedar Stump campground is our remote site located river right at the bottom of the Rapid River, a popular fly-fishing and whitewater destination. These sites fill up early and quickly and are only accessible by boat. From here you can explore The North End of Lake Umbagog or take a long day trip out to the southern end of the lake. Take a hike up the legendary Carry Road to Pond in the River and view the pristine wilderness Louis Dickinson Rich wrote about in We Took to the Woods. We have six campsites to choose from. Sites 1-5 are located on your left as you approach from the lake and site 6 is on your right. All campsites are equipped with fire pit and picnic table. Please note that on Rapid River release weekends you are required to have a minimum of four people per site and there are no refunds.
